In August 2020, shortly after the first lockdown, my wife and I embarked on a guided tour of Portugal.
This beautiful country, once a favorite among tourists with 27 million visitors in the summer of 2019, had seen a significant decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During that long summer, the only travelers exploring its stunning landscapes were the Portuguese themselves—many returning from abroad—along with a few groups of primeiros corajosos.
This project captures the essence of Portugal during a unique moment in time, highlighting the resilience and spirit of its people amidst the challenges of the pandemic.
